Filter sand is an extremely effective filter media because of its ability to hold back precipitates containing impurities. Filter sand size, angularity and hardness are the important filter sand characteristics to ensure proper filtering. Products meet or exceed the NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for Drinking Water System Components.
The most common form of SiO2 is quartz – a chemically inert and relatively hard mineral. SiO2 grades at a 7 out of 10 on Mohs hardness scale, making it ideal for use as filtration media and abrasive blasting sands.
Sand water filters are inexpensive and effective.
